Praetorian-class Carrier

Blue Phantom ChroniclesCapital Ship - Cruiser

The bulky Praetorian is an old yet sturdy vessel, able to act as both a carrier or crusier. Persistent and reliable it is mainly used by Corporate Security Forces. Being a non-sanctioned commission the Praetorian is also found in less populated sectors, serving local militia forces as flagship and mobile base of operations.

Unlike other carriers, the Praetorian carries mainly  heavy weapons, designed designed for heavy combat against other capital ships. To compensate ship's spacious hangar and adjacend maintenance bay can support two full squadrons of starfighters for additional defense.

Armament

8 heavy forward cannons

16 medium dual turrets

4 ion cannons

Despite its main role as a carrier the Praetorian is well equiped with a wide assortment of weaponry and capable to defend against both starfighters and other capital ships.

Dev notes & Origins

The ship was originally designated as a dreadnought however, I've tweaked some of its origin story over the years and, as it's a non-military vessel, labeled it a carrier instead.

The model originally featured a bridge module on top, which I removed prior to release tho. It has been re-added in the Space Engineers version.

History & Involvement

While this ship was actually of Khetarian origin, it was also used by civilian owners, such as Vido Corlini, who made one his personal flagship and mobile base of operations, going by the name of Red Star. The Red Star was destroyed and Corlini killed covering the SBC Warrior's escape after springing a trap by UPMF forces.

HD Remake

OK for this remake I'm going to further establish its role as a carrier rather than a battlecruiser/dreadnought, Reducing its firepower. Also, I'm taking cues from the textures to add a few more details, mainly highlighting the recessed windows and more exposed greeblies. The previous/current version had a lot of windows going along the thin edges covering the top and bottom of the main hull. I'm going to reduce or remove those windows and have them only along the sides and the recessed areas.
